Viesite Local Municipality is always ready to get new experience in international cooperation and show the best qualities of our municipality and state, therefore we would like to introduce the representatives of your municipality with our county.
The Viesite Local Municipality, with a population of about 5000 inhabitants, is located at the southeast of Latvia and close by Lithuania. Total Viesite municipality area is 650,5 km2. Viesite Local municipality consists of Viesite town and previous Viesite, Sauka, Rite and Elksni rural municipalities.
There are several educational institutions in Viesite municipality – preschool educational institution « Zilite », Viesite secondary school, Music and Art school, Sport school and Rite elementary school.
For leisure time activities out-of-school there is established Kids and Youth Center in Viesite municipality where kids and youth can acquire the skills in art, handicrafts, music and dance, sport and orientation. Besides, center organizes different types of camps, workshops and conferences about actual themes among young people.
Viesite has longstanding and hard dancing traditions among preschool age kids, secondary school youth and among older generation. There is music tendency progress very active – Sing mixed chorus and work fashionable music studio.
Every year we have Viesite town festival where municipality and neighbors amateur collectives have taken great activity showing results of their amateur work.
As the biggest territory of municipality takes up forests and agricultural land, therefore the main business there are forest exploitation, woodworking and agriculture. As well, countryside tourism is one of the local inhabitants businesses, also. Entrepreneurs, who perform in this sphere, have taken great activity in varia projects to straighten out our nature and historical heritage.
Project that foresees international experience exchange between project partners based on concrete achievements of the European Union. Therefore to realize above mentioned activities we are looking for cooperation partners.

Organisation presentation
In regard to international cooperation, we have commonwealth with Cheladz municipality in Poland, Židavčiv municipality in the Ukraine, Rokiskis municipality in Lithuania and Postava district executive committee in the Belarus. As a result of cooperation with above mentioned municipalities, we have organized exchange of experiences in the work of municipality, in the culture area, in the educational area and other areas.
We are realizing cross border projects with Lithuania about development of museums and craft as promoter of attractiveness of Latvia – Lithuania borderlands. As well as we are ready and we would like to get new cooperation partners to enlarge our competence in previously named areas, to improve staff work in municipality and our international relations and show our best practices and knowledge.
